Exercise Therapy is the prescription of clinical and non-clinical exercise based on the knowledge of anatomy, bio-mechanics  physiology, kinesiology, pathology, and behavioural sciences.  Clinical exercise is prescribed with respect to the specific needs of the patient and is based upon a referral from a licensed Physical Therapist.  Exercise is supervised through the course of a patient’s treatment, from intake to discharge. The goal of clinical exercise is return the patient to their normal movement and function.

Non-clinical exercise is appropriate for most patients and clients.  Programs are based upon both the personal goals and the assessed need of the individual.  Strength, endurance, flexibility and motor control are progressed towards required function.

In both clinical and non-clinical exercise an Exercise Therapist can provide education and accountability for healthy lifestyle changes and maintenance.
